Northampton’s Office of Planning and Development announces:
A neighborhood meeting to discuss National Register designation for the Pomeroy Terrace area (including sections of Bridge Street, Hawley Street, and Hancock Street) will be held this Wednesday:
When: January 12th, 6:00 PM
Where: Northampton City Hall Hearing Room, 210 Main Street
What: To learn more about National Register status and the possibility of the Pomeroy Terrace area being designated as a National Register District
Why: National Register Districts have many benefits including recognition of a property’s significance, tax incentives for owners of income-producing properties who would like to do substantial restoration, protection from adverse effects of federal and state projects, and grants for the restoration of properties owned by private nonprofits.
