A rash of break-ins that began in the summer seems to have trailed off, but police say residents shouldn’t let their guard down.
People are invited to a community meeting about the thefts Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Northampton Senior Center, 67 Conz St.
Detective Sgt. Anne McMahon, lead investigator in the case and a meeting organizer, said the focus will be to update the public about the break-ins and educate people about ways to keep their homes secure.
There have been 53 break-ins reported in Northampton since June 1, McMahon said. Several more reported in Amherst are believed to be related. Amherst Police have held two similar community meetings about the thefts in recent months….
