Notre Dame Urban Design Studio Seeks Comments

A message from Joel Russell, chair of the Northampton Design Forum:

The Notre Dame urban design studio has been hard at work since the Design Northampton Week charrette in September. The students have been refining ideas, creating new plans, and illustrating them with more perspective views. Some of this work was presented at their mid-term review, which I attended along with Bob Reckman, Michael DiPasquale, and Wayne Feiden from Northampton. The Notre Dame team wants very much to make sure that everyone has a chance to see the progress and give them feedback, so they’ve uploaded all of their recent work on their website:
http://sites.google.com/site/northamptoncharrette/

When you go to the website, click especially on the links that say “Design: Areas of Focus”, “Diagrams”, and “Discussion” and look for the most up-to-date information. There is not much explanatory information, but the drawings are interesting and provocative. Please write in and ask questions and make comments. The Notre Dame team will be coming back to town on December 13 at 2:30 PM to give a presentation and answer questions at the High School. I have talked to a number of people here about the work, and they have made many useful comments and given criticisms about it, but no one has actually written these comments into the Notre Dame email address: notredamenorthampton@gmail.com.

Please let them know what you think. They still have a lot of work to do before the end of the semester, so now is your chance to influence the direction they take in the next month. No suggestions are too small or too large, so again, please send an email with your thoughts to notredamenorthampton@gmail.com. They really want to hear from you.

Thanks for taking the time to think about the future of our City and share your thoughts.

Joel Russell, Chair
