February 3: Pomeroy Terrace Area National Register Nomination Meeting – Rescheduled from Jan 12

Northampton’s Office of Planning and Development announces:

You are invited to attend a neighborhood meeting to talk about pursuing designation of the Pomeroy Terrace area, potentially to include Pomeroy Terrace, and parts of Bridge Street, Hawley Street, Phillips Place, Butler Place and Hancock Street as a National Historic Register District.

When: Thursday, February 3, 2011, 5:30 PM
Where: Northampton City Hall Hearing Room, 210 Main Street
What: To learn more about National Register status and the possibility of the Pomeroy Terrace Area being designated as a National Register District
Why: National Register Districts have many benefits including recognition of a property’s significance, tax incentives for owners of income-producing properties who would like to do substantial restoration, protection from adverse effects of federal and state projects, and grants for the restoration of properties owned by private nonprofits.
